Aidan Mikdad

Biography

Aidan Mikdad was born in the Netherlands in 2001. He was a piano student of the Russian pedagogue and pianist Mila Baslawskaya from 2014 until 2021. In June 2021, he graduated from the Conservatory of Amsterdam and received a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a perfect score (10) and the highest honor “summa cum laude”. Recently, the Royal Academy of Music awarded him the prestigious Bicentenary Scholarship to continue his postgraduate studies with Professor Joanna MacGregor. 

Aidan has taken piano lessons with Sergei Babayan, Paul Badura-Skoda, Dmitri Bashkirov, Jonathan Biss, Victor Derevianko, Nelson Goerner, Richard Goode, Klaus Hellwig, Alexander Mndoyants, Pascal Némirovski, Enrico Pace, Ferenc Rados, András Schiff, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Natalia Troull, Asaf Zohar and Joanna MacGregor. He is also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities there.

In 2021, Aidan participated in the “Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition 2021” and made it to the semi-finals as the youngest contestant. At the age of 15, he won the prestigious “Royal Concertgebouw Young Talent Award” and the “Pnina Salzman Memorial Prize” at the “Tel Hai International Piano Masterclasses” in Israël. In 2016, he won the 1stprize of the “Premio Internazionale Pianistico A. Scriabin” for pianists up to 35 years of age and also received the “Tabor Foundation Piano Award” from the Verbier Festival as a recognition of his potential and as an investment in his promise. At the age of 13, he won the Klavier-Festival Ruhr Scholarship that was awarded to him by pianist Hélène Grimaud. In 2014, he won the 1st prize of the “International Piano Competition of Lagny-sur-Marne” and in 2013 the 1st prize of the “Koninklijk Concertgebouw Competition”. 

Aidan has given recitals in Belgium, France, Germany, Israël, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland and performed live in television and radio programs in the Netherlands and France. In 2019, he gave his debut recital in the Royal Concertgebouw which has been broadcasted live on the Dutch radio.
