Biography
Sara Domjanic (Vaduz, 1997) started playing the violin at the age of just four. By the age of eleven she had already successfully auditioned for the University of Arts in Berlin, where she continued as a junior student in Professor Latica Honda-Rosenberg’s class. Currently she is studying with Professor Antje Weithaas at the “Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler” in Berlin.
She has attended masterclasses with Gerhard Mantel, Arbo Valdma, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Thomas Brandis, Coosje Wijzenbeek, Ana Chumachenco and Rudens Turku.Since 2011, the young violinist has also received a scholarship from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, where she participates in the intensive music weeks. She is also a member of the “ENSEMBLE ESPERANZA”.
Sara Domjanic won her first violin competition at the young age of five and since than she is a multiple winner of state competitions of Austria, Principality of Liechtenstein and Switzerland. She also received the prestigious “Podium-Preis” in the Principality of Liechtenstein and with the trio “Ingenium Musicum”, consisting of her and her brother Andreas on the piano and Kian Soltani on the cello, she won the first prize at the “Kiwanis Chamber Music Competition” in Switzerland. She is the winner of the 1st prize at the international “Etide i Skale” competition in Croatia. As a winner of the Croatian youth choice for the young musicians in the final of “Eurovision Young Musicians”, she was representing Croatia in Cologne, Germany, in May 2014.
She has performed with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, the Belarusian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Zagreb Soloists, the Franz-Schmidt-Chamber-Orchestra in Vienna, the Gnessin Orchestra Moscow, the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra, the “Fancy Fiddlers” chamber music ensemble from Amsterdam, the Varazdin Chamber Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of the Julius-Stern-Institute in Berlin and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. At the tender age of 13 she made her debut at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall. She has also been a much sought-after performer at festivals, including the Epidaurus Festival in Croatia, the Music Festival in the Sultanate of Oman, the Kissinger Summer in Germany, the “FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION” Bad Ragaz, in Switzerland and the “Festival Kammermusik Bodensee” at Lake Constance. Other concerts took her to the Tonhalle Zürich, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Philharmonie im Gasteig in Munich, the Friedrichspalast in Berlin, the Centre Culturel in Paris, “Knežev Dvor” in Dubrovnik, the Vishnevskaya Opera House in Moscow.
She performed in Dubai, Singapore, Washington, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Hamburg, Schwarzenberg and she accepted an invitation to be “Artist in Residence” at the “FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION” in Bad Ragaz. Sara Domjanic has received support from the Conny-Maeva Charitable Foundation, the Guido-Feger-Foundation, the “Musik & Jugend” charitable foundation, the Neue Bank AG Vaduz, the “Promotor” foundation, the “Hand in Hand Anstalt” and the “Kulturstiftung Liechtenstein”. She plays a Stephan von Baehr “Antonio Stradivari – Golden Period” violin, which was made in 2014.
