Biography
Born in 2007 in Singapore, Michelle embarked on her musical journey at the age of four with singing and solfège. Her first instrument was the piano which she learned after being selected for the Gifted Young Pianists Program in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore) at the age of five. When she was seven, she enrolled in a cello program.
Michelle was selected as the youngest performer in the Cello Academie Rutesheim of Germany in 2018 and admitted into the Masterclass of Wolfgang Schmidt. She has participated in the Kronberg Cello Masterclass 2022 and was selected as Frans Helmerson's student. She was award a scholarship for participating in the next masterclass. She’s also a scholarship holder of the Academy of Music in Liechtenstein and regularly takes part in the intensive weeks and activities held there.

Michelle won the 1st prize in the “Singapore International Festival of Music” in the strings category at the age of nine. In 2021, she won the 1st prize of the “Nanyang International Music Competition” and was awarded the grand prize the “Goh Soon Tioe Cello Prize” in Singapore. In 2019, she has awarded as a diploma winner of the “7th International Dotzauer Competition for Young Cellists” in Germany and was the 1st price winner of the junior section of the “Mediacorp’s Symphony 92.4 Young Talents Project 2019” in Singapore. Earlier, she was an award winner of the “International Television Contest for Young Musicians Nutcracker” 2017 in Russia for children under 14 years old.
Michelle has performed in many countries including Germany, Russia, Malaysia and Thailand. In 02/2023, she performed with the Bonn Orchestra Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C in the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.
Despite her busy schedule, she takes time to participate in a church orchestra and performs in various fund-raising concerts for charity organizations. In her school orchestra, she loves the role of section leader for the cello section. She enjoys working with her team members in practicing and performing for festivals and school events.
