Biography
Alberto Friman was born in 2005 in Finland. He started to play the violin at the age of five at the Helsinki Conservatory of Music with Tapio Tuovila. From 2017-2021, he was a student of the Violin Academy for selected, highly talented young Finnish violinists, where he was taught by Elina Vähälä (Vienna University of Music) and Janne Malmivaara (Sibelius Academy, Helsinki Conservatory). Since 2021, he has been a young student with Prof. Mark Gothoni at the Julius Stern Institute of the University of the Arts (UdK) Berlin.
Alberto has taken part in masterclasses both in Finland and abroad with Tuomas Haapanen, Hrachya Avanesyan, Marek Szwarc, Alexandra Soumn, Ingolf Turban, among others. He’s a scholarship holder of the Academy of Music in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities offered by the academy.

Alberto was awarded the 1st prize at the „Seppo Tukiainen Violin Competition” in 2014 and 2017. In 2013 and 2014, he won the 1st prize at „Jugend Musiziert”. In 2017, he was awarded the 2nd prize at the “Stockholm International Music Competition”. In 2018, he won the 1st prize at the „Savshinsky International Music Competition” in Saint Petersburg, the 3rd prize at the „Arthur Grumiaux International Music Competition” and the 2nd prize at the „Ysaye International Music Competition” in Liège. In 2019, he won the 3rd prize at the „Leonid Kogan International Competition for Young Violinists” in Belgium. In 2020, he reached the semifinal at the „Kuopio Violin Competition” as the youngest participant. Other competition successes include the 1st place at the „Internationaler Wettbewerb Musikalisches Feuerwerk” in Baden-Württemberg 2020, the special prize at the „Ilmari Hannikainen Piano Chamber Music Competition” 2020 as well as a distinction at the „International Georg Philipp Telemann Violin Competition” in 2021.
In 2020, Alberto participated in In Corpore chamber music festival in Tallinn and in 2022, he took part in the international chamber music festival Musica Mundi Festival in Belgium.
