Biography
Sebastian Rauch was born in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2006 and received his first piano lessons at the age of six at the Göppingen Youth Music School with Heidi Endress and Friederike Mandler. Since 2021, he has been a student of Alexandra Neumann at the Stuttgart Music School and was accepted into the preparatory class in the same year. In March 2023, he passed the entrance exam for the Young Academy of Rostock network and is now receiving additional lessons from Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit.
Sebastian attended several master classes with Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit, Prof. Ruben Dalibaltayan, Prof. Sontraud Speidel, Prof. Konrad Elser and Prof. Angelika Merkle. He is a scholarship holder at the Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities that take place there.

Sebastian is a winner of national and international competitions. In 2023, he received the 1st prize and the special prize for the best interpretation of a classically modern piece in the national competition of “Jugend Musiziert”, the 3rd prize at the “13th Bach Competition for Young Piano Talents” in Köthen and the 3rd prize at the “1st International Piano Competition for Young Pianists Kronberg”. In 2022, he won the 1st prize at the “Carl Schröder Competition” in Sondershausen, the 1stprize and was “3rd ultimate winner” at “The Muse”. At the 2022 national competition “Jugend musiziert” he received the 1st federal prize and the Karl-Heinz Kämmerling sponsorship prize with his piano trio, the 1st first prize at “Euplayy” as well as the audience prize and became 2nd ultimate winner. Also in 2022, he received the 3rd prize at the “Steinway & Sons Piano Competition” in Hamburg. In 2021, he won the Grand Prix at the “Baden Piano Etude Competition”, the 1st prize at the “World Open Online Competition” and the 2nd prize at the “Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte” in Usti nad Labem.
In June 2023, Sebastian made his debut as a soloist with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Stuttgart Music School in the Liederhalle Stuttgart and on the Czech Republic concert tour with the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.
Sebastian has been a scholarship holder of the German Musical Life Foundation since June 2023.
