Biography

Born in New York City, violinist Wenlan Jackson has a blossoming career on international stages. Among recent engagements are solo performances with the Colburn Orchestra, Burbank Philharmonic, SoCal Philharmonic, San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra Santa Monica, as well as Brandenburg Concerti at Berlin Philharmonie with Sinfonisches Kammerorchester Berlin, a live broadcast recital for Classical KingFM Radio, and a recital for eight-hundred children and teachers in Sapporo, Japan. She was the winner of the Mika Hasler Competition, SoCal Phil Young Artist Competition, Hennings-Fischer Young Artist Competition, Colburn Music Academy Concerto Competition, second prize at the Redlands Bowl Young Artists Concerto Competition, among other awards. 

As a 2025-26 Fulbright Award recipient to Germany, Wenlan is currently pursuing her Master’s at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with Kolja Blacher. She earned her Bachelor’s of Music from Colburn Conservatory of Music with Robert Lipsett in 2025. Wenlan is the concertmaster of Kontrapunktus ensemble in Los Angeles, since 2025.

She was a featured soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra on the Grammy Award–winning album An Adoption Story: The Storm (Kitt Wakeley, 2023), and held the Frank Salomon Chair as Associate Concertmaster of the New York String Orchestra 2022.

She has attended festivals including Villars Institute, Nume Festival, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Fontainebleau Schools, Verão Clássico, and Aspen Music Festival, collaborating with artists such as Paul Watkins, Ettore Causa, Arnaud Sussman, Mohamed Hiber, and Simone Bernardini.

Wenlan currently plays on a 1799 Nicolas Lupot violin, on loan from a private collection.
