Biography

Diana Adamyan was born in Yerevan (Armenia) in 2000 and grew up in a family of musicians. She received her first violin lessons at the special music school P. I. Tchaikovsky in Yerevan from the famous Armenian violin teacher Petros Haykazyan. From February 2014 to July 2015 she studied with Prof. Hrachya Harutyunyan (Germany) and from October 2015 onwards with Prof. Eduard Tadevosyan. Since October 2018 she has been studying with Prof. Ana Chumachenco at the University of Music and Theater in Munich. 

Diana attended master classes, among others, with Pinchas Zukerman in Ottawa, Donald Weilerstein (New England Conservatory) and Leonidas Kavakos, supported by the DakApp Foundation. She is also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks there.

The young violinist has already won numerous national and international competitions. In 2007 she was a prizewinner at the “Spendiaryan National Competition Festival” in Yerevan, and in 2010 she received the 1st prize at the “Veratsnund International Festival Competition” in Gyumri (Armenia). In November 2012 she won the silver medal at the “13th International Television Competition for Young Musicians Nutcracker” in Moscow. In December 2014 she received the 1st prize at the “International Violin Competition and Festival in Honor of the 100th birthday of the Armenian Professor Hrachya Boghdanyan”. In December 2015 she took part at the “9th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians” and was awarded the 2nd prize and the silver medal. In 2018 she received the 1st prize and the audience award at the renowned “Menuhin Competition” in Geneva. In 2020 she won the 1st prize at the “Khachaturian International Competition” in Yerevan, Armenia.

Diana has appeared regularly as a soloist since 2007. In 2012 she performed with the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia in Tehran (Iran). In 2013, she was invited to the international music festival Moscow Invites Friends and gave a solo recital at the Moscow International House of Music. In the same year, she performed with the Orchester de Chambre Amabilis in Switzerland and gave a solo recital in Boston. In 2014, she performed at the National Arts Center Gala Concert in Ottawa. In 2014 and 2015, she went on a concert tour through France and Switzerland with the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia. She also performed in London's Cadogan Hall together with Pinchas Zuckerman and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the international music festival Yerevan Perspectives, commemorating the genocide of the Armenians 100 years ago, and played Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto for two violins and orchestra. In 2019, she was invited to the VP Bank Classic Festival in Bad Ragaz (Switzerland) and also appeared as a soloist with the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra. 

Diana was a participant in the New Names of Armenia program and received a grant from the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation. In 2012 she was supported by the Armenian General Benevolent Union. She is also regularly funded by the YerazArt Foundation in Boston (USA). 

The young violinist plays a violin by Nicolò Gagliano from 1765, sponsored by the Henri Moerel Foundation.
