Biography
Irish violist Martin Moriarty is in high demand as a soloist and chamber musician both at home and abroad. Martin has received multiple awards including the Amsterdam Viola Festival Competition, Flax Trust Award at the Clandeboye Festival And the Peter Pirazzi Stiftung. As a soloist he has performed with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra and the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Festival appearances include Verbier Festival Academy, West Cork, GAIA, Schiermonnikoog, Grachtenfestival, Tsinandali and Ortús Chamber Music Festivals. He has collaborated with Tabea Zimmerman, Antoine Tamestit, Garth Knox, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Ferenc Rados, Barry Douglas, Finghin Collins, Thomas Hampson and Jörg Widmann to name a few. Following studies in Amsterdam with Nobuko Imai and Marjolein Dispa, he currently finishing his Masters Degree studying with Veit Hertenstein at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, Germany. From September 2020 Martin will study under Lawrence Power at the Zurich University of the Arts in a further Masters study.
