Biography
András Lakatos, born in 2004 in Szombathely (Hungary), attended the gifted students’ class at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with Ludmila Satz at the age of eleven. From 2019 to 2022, he was a pre-college student in the class of Prof. Dr. Péter Nagy at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, where he is now continuing his Bachelor’s studies. Since 2024, he has also been studying at the Schola Cantorum de Paris with Prof. Maurizio Moretti.
He has taken part in masterclasses with, among others, Rudolf Buchbinder, Till Fellner, Milana Chernyavska, and Antti Siirala, and has successfully participated in international competitions. For example, he won 1st Prize at the International Piano Competition Munich in 2023; 3rd Prize at the International Béla Bartók Piano Competition in Graz in 2024; 1st Prize at the Music Academy FORTE International Piano Competition in Brussels in 2024; and most recently, in 2025, 1st Prize, the Schumann Prize, the EMCY Prize, and the Audience Prize at the International Robert Schumann Piano Competition in Düsseldorf.
His concert appearances have taken him, among other venues, to the Müpa in Budapest; the Robert Schumann Hall in Düsseldorf with the Cologne Chamber Orchestra; the Bartók Hall in Szombathely with the Savaria Symphony Orchestra; the Steinway Haus Munich; the Liszt Institute; the Theaterhaus; and the Liederhalle in Stuttgart. In addition to his solo performances, he is a passionate chamber musician and frequently leads projects with singers.
Since 2023, he has been a scholarship holder of the Christel-Guthörle Foundation, and since 2024 of the German Music Life Foundation (Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben).
