Biography
The winner of the “Scottish International Piano Competition 2017”, Can Çakmur began his musical training with Leyla Bekensir and Ayse Kaptan, and later studied with Emre Sen. In 2012, he was accepted into Marcella Crudeli’s class at the Pariser Schola Cantorum, where he was awarded the “Diplôme de Virtuosité” with the highest distinction two years later. He is currently studying at the Univer-sity of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar with Grigory Gruzman. He also works with Diane Andersen in Belgium. Can Çakmur has attended courses with renowned musicians such as Leslie Howard, Arie Vardi and Claudio Martínez Mehner, and he also receives a scholarship from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein.

The young pianist has won awards at numerous competitions, including the “Roma International Piano Competition”, the “International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Pianists” and the “International Balys Dvarionas Competition for Young Pianists”. In 2019, he won the 1st prize at the “Hamamatsu International Piano Competition” in Japan.
Can Çakmur has already performed in prestigious concert halls, such as the Fazioli Concert Hall in Sacile, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Die Glocke in Bremen, and has been invited to perform at various festivals, including Pianofortissimo in Bologna, the Istanbul Music Festival and the Liszt Festival. In 2014, he opened the concert season of the Eskisehir Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Ender Sakpinar. In 2015, he performed at the opening concert of the Istanbul Music Festival with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Sascha Goetzel. In 2019, he made his debut with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under the baton of Kensho Watanabe and performed at the VP Bank Classic Festival in Bad Ragaz in Switzerland.
