Biography

The pianist Yukino Kaihara, born in Hiroshima, Japan, began her musical career early and gained recognition in international competitions such as the Chopin Competition. In 2018, she debuted at Tokyo's Suntory Hall, performing Ravel’s piano concerto.

As a prize winner of the Tokyo Music Competition and having successfully participated in the Long-Thibaud-Crespin Competition in Paris, Yukino has recently performed with orchestras, including the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. She received scholarships from the Munetsugu Angel Fundraising in 2014 and 2015 and has been supported by a scholarship from the Yamaha Music Europe Foundation (YMEF) since 2017, becoming a Röhm Academy Fellow in 2021.

Studying under Kei Itoh in Tokyo, Yukino earned her first degree with distinction and is pursuing further studies at the University of the Arts Berlin with Björn Lehmann. Yukino Kaihara is sought after as both a soloist and chamber musician, and she has served as an accompanist for violinists and cellists at the Japanese Music Competition, International Long-Thibaud-Crespin Competition, and International Queen Elisabeth Competition. Since 2023, she has been teaching as a correpetitor at the University of the Arts Berlin.
